If you want to see some of the most extraordinary birds of the Colombian Andes, this KM 18 birdwatching tour is the perfect experience. Just outside Cali, this region is known for its misty cloud forests, vibrant hummingbirds, colorful tanagers, toucans, and an exceptional variety of endemic species found only in this corner of Colombia. Guided by a naturalist from Ecotourspuravida with the support of experienced birding experts, the group visits one carefully selected reserve—either Bosque de Niebla, La Florida, or Alas de los Alpes—chosen according to weather, species activity, and daily conditions to guarantee the best sightings.

This tour is not only rich in wildlife; it’s genuinely fun and engaging, offering a relaxed atmosphere where guests can enjoy photography, learn about the region’s ecosystems, and experience the calm that only the mountains of KM 18 provide. Tour Recommendations: Jacket or warm sweater, comfortable shoes, sun protection (cap or hat)

Binoculars or long-nose camera. (If you need binoculars let us know with anticipation), Eco-friendly sun and mosquito protection (preferably clothes to aid with sun and mosquitoes)

Duration: The total tour time is 8 hours from start to finish with 5 hours of birdwatching time.

Program

Duration: 8 hours Approximately

6:00 am Pick-up from your hotel or designated meeting point.

7:00 am Arrival at birdwatching reserve.

7:00 - 8:00 am Visit hides to view forest birds.

8:30 am - 9:00 am Breakfast time.

9:00 am - 10:00 am We return to the forest to look for other birds.

10:00 am to 11:00 am We will focus on identifying different species of hummingbirds.

11:00 am to 12:00 pm Tour to the side of the road of Km18.

12:00 pm to 1:00 pm Time to relax with snacks and refreshments.

1:00 pm Conclusion of our birding tour and heading back to Cali.

Minimum participants :

Most of our group tours require a minimum of 2 people to run the tour. If we do not hit this minimum, we reserve the right to cancel the tour, in which case we will contact you to offer an alternative tour or send a refund.

Cancellation:

For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time. 

If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded. 

Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted. Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time. 

This tour will take place rain or shine. If it’s canceled due to extreme poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.
