Don Elías Coffee Farm Tour Salento, Quindío
Join us for an unforgettable coffee adventure just outside Salento. Explore a traditional coffee farm, discover every step of the bean-to-cup journey, and enjoy freshly brewed Colombian coffee surrounded by breathtaking mountain scenery.
Step into the heart of Colombia's Coffee Region and discover the fascinating journey of coffee—from seed to cup—at Don Elías Coffee Farm, a traditional family-owned farm that has been welcoming visitors for more than 30 years.
This immersive experience is perfect for coffee lovers and anyone curious about how one of the world's most iconic beverages is grown, harvested, and transformed into the rich flavors enjoyed worldwide. Coffee is deeply rooted in Colombia’s history, culture, and economy, and this tour offers a hands-on opportunity to experience it firsthand.
Your journey begins with a scenic ride in a classic Willys Jeep, the traditional vehicle of Colombia’s Coffee Region, used for generations to navigate the mountain roads and transport people and goods across rural areas. Upon arrival, you’ll receive a warm welcome before exploring the coffee plantation, where you’ll learn about coffee varieties, sustainable farming practices, and the full life cycle of the plant from seed to ripe cherry.
Next, you’ll visit the processing area to see how coffee is transformed through pulping, fermentation, washing, drying, roasting, and grinding. Each step plays a key role in developing the aroma, body, and flavor of the final cup.
One of the highlights is grinding your own coffee and participating in a guided tasting experience, where you’ll learn to identify the unique characteristics that make Colombian coffee world-famous.
To complete your experience, you may also enjoy a traditional homemade Colombian meal—either breakfast or lunch depending on the tour schedule—prepared with fresh local ingredients for an authentic taste of the Coffee Region.
The tour is available in English, Spanish, and French, and private tours are available for couples, families, and small groups seeking a more personalized experience.
