El Valle, Chocó – Pacific Rainforest Expedition
Deep in Colombia’s Pacific frontier lies El Valle, a hidden stretch of jungle and coastline near Bahía Solano, where rainforest meets the ocean and wildlife rules the land. This is not a standard vacation — it is an expedition for travelers seeking adventure, immersion, and connection with nature.
Our program is designed as a complete, guided experience, combining accommodation, local expertise, and logistical support so you can explore the region fully without worrying about flights, transfers, or planning.
Arrival: Entering the Wild Pacific
The journey begins with a flight from Medellín (or, less frequently from Quibdó, Pereira and Cali). Small aircraft traverse the Andes before descending into Bahía Solano, giving travelers their first glimpses of dense rainforest spilling toward the Pacific.
From Bahía Solano, our team coordinates transfers to El Valle. The roads are rugged, the tides can dictate travel times, and weather is always a factor. These challenges are part of the adventure — and why professional guidance is essential.
Basecamp: Eco-Lodge on Almejal Beach
Your home for this expedition is a sustainably operated eco-lodge nestled between a pristine 2-kilometer black-sand beach and primary rainforest. Cabins are designed to immerse you in the environment while providing comfort: mosquito-netted beds, private bathrooms, terraces overlooking the forest, and filtered natural light.
This is not just a place to sleep — it is your base for exploring the Pacific wilderness. Evenings are accompanied by the sounds of waves and jungle, and meals feature fresh, locally sourced ingredients to fuel your adventures.
Expedition Days: Guided by Jungle and Ocean
Each day unfolds according to nature: tides, weather, and wildlife activity. You will venture into rainforest trails, discover hidden waterfalls, and walk along untouched beaches.
Depending on the season, highlights may include:
Humpback whale encounters (July–October) via guided boat tours
Rainforest treks to explore Chocó’s unparalleled biodiversity
Waterfall visits and river tubing, navigating crystal-clear streams
Birdwatching and wildlife spotting, with local naturalist guides
Excursions to Utría National Park, a protected coastal rainforest reserve
Optional yoga or surf sessions, for balance after full adventure days
No two days are the same. Flexibility and local expertise ensure you are always in the best position to experience nature at its fullest.
Why Travel With Us!
El Valle is remote. Flights are limited, schedules can shift, roads and tides are unpredictable, and infrastructure is minimal. Independent travel here is challenging.

Important Information
The lodge is located in el Valle, Chocó—a remote Pacific region only accessible by plane (typically from Medellín).
This is a place for adventure and disconnection, not luxury tourism. A perfect opportunity to unplug, relax, and connect with nature.
Expect frequent rain, high humidity, and lush surroundings year-round. Rain is part of the experience—it keeps the jungle alive and vibrant.
Whale watching (July–October), turtle nesting, birdwatching, and jungle treks are unforgettable experiences—but wildlife sightings are not guaranteed and depend on the season and luck.
Flights to Bahía Solano can fill up quickly, especially in whale season (July–October).
It’s recommended to book both flights and the lodge well in advance.
The ecolodge offers a peaceful, rustic atmosphere focused on sustainability and nature. No A/C, no screens—just the sound of the ocean, the jungle, and time to reflect or reconnect.
Some tours involve hikes through humid forests, muddy terrain, or boat rides. Basic physical fitness is important, and guests should wear appropriate shoes and be ready for adventure.
