Sugar Cane Farm and Hacienda El Paraiso Day Tour Experience

Take a tour from Cali to visit the renowned haciendas that inspired Latin American romance novels and are significant to the sugar cane industry.

Join us on an unforgettable day tour just one hour from Cali to explore two of the Valle del Cauca region’s most significant historical and cultural sites: Hacienda Piedechinche, home of the Museo de la Caña (Sugarcane Museum), and the iconic Hacienda El Paraíso.

At Hacienda Piedechinche / Museo de la Caña, you’ll dive into the fascinating history of sugarcane in Colombia. Walk through traditional sugarcane fields, see historic machinery and tools used in the sugar industry, and learn how sugarcane shaped the local economy and culture over centuries. This interactive museum experience highlights the technological, social, and environmental impact of sugarcane production in Valle del Cauca.

Next, we visit the beautifully preserved Hacienda El Paraíso, a colonial-era estate made famous by Jorge Isaacs’ classic novel, “María.” Stroll through the elegant house, gardens, and surrounding grounds, soaking in the romantic architecture and lush landscapes that inspired one of Colombia’s greatest literary works. Our guide will share stories about life during the colonial period, the estate’s historical significance, and the connection between literature and the local culture.

After exploring both estates, enjoy a delicious traditional lunch featuring regional specialties and local drinks, giving you a taste of Valle del Cauca’s rich culinary heritage. Finally, our driver will return you safely to your accommodation in Cali, completing a day filled with history, culture, and nature.

This tour is perfect for history buffs, literature enthusiasts, and cultural travelers, offering an immersive experience into the heart of Colombia’s sugarcane heritage and colonial charm.
